VIP or Premium Parking
Totally worth it
If you are willing to spend a little more, $30-40 extra per vehicle, many events provide parking within a block of the event. Keep in mind that some events will have you parking a mile or more from the actual course, and you’re probably still going to pay $10-20 for the opportunity. From there, you will have to walk...both ways, or the organizers may provide a shuttle bus service. Either way, this will add time and effort to your day. I’ve been in situations where my group showed up 90 minutes early, but the shuttle service was so slow that we ended up starting late. The slow shuttles added 3 hours of waiting in the sun. When split 4-6 ways, the additional cost would have been totally worth it.
Benefits:
- Roll up like a boss.
- Easy and free access to your stuff...dry clothing, phone, food, etc.
- Many events charge you to store a bag of stuff. Tough Mudder charges $10 for a gallon bag. 12 of us showed up in van and split the $50 Premium parking fee and saved $70 in storage fees….boom.
- No long walk lugging your mud soaked gear back to your ride after a long, hard run.
- and/or NO waiting in line for the shuttle...to and from the event.
- Roll out like a boss.
